Pediatric Eye Care

At ECS Pediatric & Adult (Wexford)

A Focus on Their Future

At ECS Pediatric & Adult, we provide a free eye exam to infants from ages 6-12 months. This is designed to ensure that any eye or vision needs are detected and treated early and efficiently. This is much more thorough than a standard pediatrician screening and gives you valuable baselines for your child’s care.

We recommend exams at 3 and 5 years of age to ensure that your child’s eyes and visual system are developing properly. This is critical as a foundation for learning. With school curriculums becoming more challenging at an early age, assuring proper visual development is invaluable. During the school years, yearly exams are recommended to monitor the eye health, prescription status, and skill development.

We are now able to reduce refractive errors and stabilize prescriptions better than ever! Current research shows that refractive engineering is safe, effective, and can spare your child from entering the vicious cycle of worsening eyesight from year to year.

Infant Screenings

Did you know? The American Optometric Association recommends scheduling your baby’s first eye assessment at 6 months.

At EyeCare Specialties, we understand the importance of your baby’s eye health. We provide infant screenings for children as early as 6 to 12 months of age. At the screening, our Doctors test for excessive amounts of myopia (nearsightedness), farsightedness, astigmatism, eye movement ability and eye health.

Parents, don’t wait until it’s too late!

According to Think About Your Eyes, 24 percent of parents wait for their children to have symptoms before taking them to an eyecare provider, which can be problematic because kids don’t understand what “normal” vision entails.
